One of the best parts about the Southport and Oak Island area is that it’s a city with a small-town feel. Raleigh is a city where people know your face and that’s all they need to know. It’s often you will run into someone you met, recognize their face and embrace them in a warm greeting without even knowing one another’s names. A feeling of comfortability and familiarity in Southport and Oak Island comes from that small-town feel. You may not recognize it at first, give it six months though and you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about.

If you’re anything like me, you enjoy the opportunity to meet new people while running into the ones you met previously. Southport and Oak Island are cities, and it’s a small town at the same time. It’s large enough so that you’re always meeting new people and small enough so that you’re constantly running into the ones you know.

If you are relocating to Southport or Oak Island, you’ll want to be sure you head downtown for a night at FishyFishy(I recommend the Blackened Tuna Sandwich) or Mr. P’s (Fine Dining / Seafood). These restaurants will hit the taste buds you didn’t even know you had.

The art scene in Southport are some of the best attractions in the city. For a while, Art was hard to find in Southport but has now stole the center stage, and it inspired arts in other forms, including music, craft beer, and fine dining, and inspired some of the custom new construction homes in Southport and Oak Island.

The Franklin Square Gallery is one of the main attractions for Art lovers visiting and living in the Southport and Oak Island, NC area. You can search through the variety of shows and workshops on the FSG art Gallery website, though nothing you’ll see online will do justice compared to an in-person visit to the Franklin Square Art Gallery.

For those with a great appreciation of art, it’s just one more reason to relocate to Southport and Oak Island North Carolina.

How far is Southport and Oak Island, NC, from the beach? Southport is only a short 12 minute drive, and your feet are in the sand. Oak Island is already there!!!

A short hour drive west is Pinehurst, North Carolina, a city known as the “Home of Golf in the U.S.” The North Carolina Golf Panel ranks the top 100 courses found in NC, and the Pinehurst area has three of the top five golf courses on the list.

It’s easier to go for a 10-minute drive in Pinehurst than passing at least one golf course. The density of golf courses in the area is the reason for the nickname “The Sandhills.”

The number of golf course communities in the Southport and Oak Island area is huge. It’s not hard to understand why the people in the Southport and Oak Island area love their golf with courses like Carolina National to the right. Brunswick County really go the best of the best when its comes to locations. We have almost all beach!

There are so many things to do in Southport, NC as well as Oak Island, NC. There really is something for everyone to enjoy, no matter your age or interests.
